A Mississippi Delta Blues musician’s journey through, and triumph over, a ten year sentence at Parchman Penitentiary, Mississippi’s notorious state prison, a former plantation for runaway slaves built in the 1840’s.

The story of the poorhouse institution is revealed through the recollections of former residents, historical documents, and the remnants of old poorhouse structures. Told through the narrative of Kim Quintal, whose family members lived and died in the Poorhouse.
